báo cà phê—Shifted production cycle maintains momentum in August and exports surpass 13.2 million in the last 12 months
National coffee production in August reached 1.24 million 60-kg bags, a growth of +19% compared to August 2024. This result extends the momentum observed in July and reflects the delay in the first half harvest, caused by persistent rains that pushed the picking into the start of the second half of the year.
With this performance, accumulated production over the last 12 months (Sept. 2024 – Aug. 2025) reached 14.79 million bags, an annual increase of +18%. So far this year (Jan.–Aug. 2025), production totals 8.83 million bags (+10%).
In terms of foreign trade, Colombia exported 1.13 million bags in August, representing an increase of +10% compared to August 2024. Over the past 12 months, exports reached 13.23 million bags, with a +13% growth compared to the previous period. FNC exports amounted to 2.59 million bags (+18%), while those of other exporters reached 10.63 million (+12%).
Preliminary imports for the month totaled 146 thousand bags, adding up to 776 thousand over the last 12 months. Domestic consumption remains stable, with a moving estimate of 2.25 million bags per year.
As the close of the coffee year approaches, the positive momentum in production and exports confirms the strength of Colombia’s coffee system. However, it is necessary to point out that national production will decline in the October–December 2025 quarter. The harvest forecast estimates an impact of 1 million fewer bags compared to 2024.
Finally, I again call on Colombian authorities to strengthen monitoring tools for imports, given the tariff differences between coffees of different origins established by the United States government. These create an incentive for a harmful import dynamic, underscoring the need to review a framework to protect the competitiveness of Colombian Coffee.
