Lam Dong, Vietnam – October 20, 2025 — The Investigation Police Agency of Lam Dong Provincial Police has announced that it is expanding its investigation into a large-scale production and trading ring involved in fake coffee products, uncovered in Kien Duc Commune, Lam Dong Province.
On October 7, officers from the Economic Police Division and the Traffic Police Division of Lam Dong Police stopped a truck (license plate 92C-211.53) transporting powdered coffee in Kien Duc Commune for inspection.
During the inspection, Tran Le Tu, the driver, admitted that all the coffee on board was counterfeit — made entirely from soybeans soaked in artificial flavoring, with no actual coffee content.
According to Tu’s statement, the fake coffee was being distributed to small grocery stores in Dong Nai and Lam Dong provinces. He also claimed to be an employee of Luong Gia Coffee, a facility based in Phuoc Long, Binh Phuoc Province, owned by Luong Anh Nang and Luong Anh Tai.
Large Quantities of Fake Coffee Seized
Investigators seized and sealed a total of 2,057 packages of powdered coffee, weighing over 1,000 kilograms, along with 20 sacks of ground coffee labeled “Luong Gia Coffee 1” (approximately 1,000 kilograms in total).
A subsequent search of the Luong Gia production site revealed over 80 sacks of roasted soybeans treated with flavoring, three sacks of roasted coffee beans, as well as various documents, machinery, packaging, and labels for “Luong Gia Coffee” and other brands used in their operations.
Key Suspects Arrested
Lam Dong Police have arrested Luong Anh Tai, Luong Anh Nang, and Tran Le Tu for investigation on charges of producing and trading counterfeit food products (specifically, fake coffee powder).
Background of the Luong Gia Coffee Facility
Investigations show that Luong Gia Coffee was initially registered by Luong Anh Nang in March 2015 in Quang Nam Province, operating legally as a coffee production and trading business.
However, due to poor business performance in Quang Nam, Nang later relocated to Vinh Tan Commune, Vinh Cuu District, Dong Nai Province, where he resumed production and trading activities in 2023.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the scale of distribution, supply networks, and potential involvement of other individuals or facilities connected to the fake coffee operation.
