The Vietnam Amazing Cup 2026 has recorded a significant increase in participation, underscoring the rapid development of Vietnam’s specialty coffee industry.
As of March 16, 2026, the organizing body, the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Association, confirmed that 82 producers and companies have registered for this year’s competition—representing a 17% increase compared to 2025. A total of 185 coffee samples have been submitted, up 23% year-on-year, including 122 Robusta and 63 Arabica entries.
More notably, the total volume of coffee submitted has reached nearly 348 tons, marking a substantial 42% increase from last year. Robusta dominates with over 262 tons, reflecting Vietnam’s strength in this segment. Some entries are exceptionally large in scale, with the biggest Robusta lot weighing 50,000 kg and the largest Arabica lot reaching 10,000 kg.
Regional Participation Expands
This year’s samples originate from seven key coffee-growing regions across the country. Lam Dong leads with 95 entries (36 Arabica and 59 Robusta), followed by Dak Lak with 37 Robusta samples. Other participating regions include Gia Lai (21 samples), Quang Ngai (13), Son La (9), Quang Tri (9), and Dong Nai (1).
Competition Timeline
Following the submission phase, organizers will conduct physical defect analysis and sample roasting. The preliminary round is scheduled from April 19 to April 22, with the final round taking place on April 24 and 25. The award ceremony will be held in Buon Ma Thuot on the afternoon of April 26.
Industry Implications
According to Mr. Trinh Duc Minh, Chairman of the association, the surge in both sample numbers and lot sizes demonstrates that Vietnam’s specialty coffee producers are scaling up not only in quality but also in production capacity. This indicates their growing ability to supply consistent, high-quality beans to international roasters and large coffee chains.
Beyond identifying outstanding lots, the competition serves as a critical platform linking producers directly with global buyers. For Dak Lak—widely regarded as Vietnam’s coffee capital—the event is expected to accelerate efforts to enhance value-added production and promote sustainable farming practices.
As Vietnam continues to strengthen its position in the global coffee market, events like the Vietnam Amazing Cup are helping shift its image—from a volume-driven exporter to a recognized origin of high-quality specialty coffee capable of meeting the most demanding international standards.
